Harvest Story: After having this deer 2 miles away last year and relocating him this June I knew he was special. Multiple trips using my spotting scope I figured out where he was bedding. I had him almost all of summer until he shed his velvet. I knew in the past he would transition to a thick bottom in a hard to hunt area. The winds swirl terribly in this drain but I knew he would feel safe. I found a spot where I could basically sit on the ground beside a creek and my scent would pull down it on almost every wind. After sitting 7 days straight he finally slipped up. Unfortunately his running buddy saw me draw my bow from the ground and spooked. I shot through a small window and nicked a limb. I thought the shot was way worse than it was. We waited 18 hrs thinking it was gut. The deer only ran 100 yds. Sadly the coyotes found him before we could.
