Harvest Story: I was sitting in my blind on November 6th in the afternoon and it was warm. Hadn’t seen a deer all afternoon. At 5:10 here comes this buck. Kinda snuck up on me and was already heading away from me about 70 yards. He jumped over a fence away from me and I tried to call him back with my grunt tube. Didn’t seem to make him want to change his direction. Then I changed to rattle, figuring what’s the worst that can happen. Rattled for 40 seconds and then he bee lined it back over the fence towards me. He was so quick I couldn’t get my bow up in my preferred shot line. He went about 25 yards from me and stopped, looking into the trees. I was shaking so much I couldn’t get a good anchor with my release hand. Luckily he hadn’t moved, I steadied myself, and put a good shot on him, double lung. He ran away about 100 yards, slowed to a trot, and then started coughing up blood. But he was tough, he jumped the fence and walked another 200 yards before he fell. Have a tactacam but it was lower on my bow and so all you can see is leaves and barely the lighted nock when it’s shot.
