Harvest Story: This morning I set my sights on a property that has been great this time of the year. I was not really pursuing a certain deer. At 7:40 a small 9 point came down wind of me and was smelling a bit of the doe scent I set out when I walked in. I decided to grunt at him mainly because I wanted to see how he’d react. He seemed a bit interested but continued into the timber to the west of me. I gave him a couple minute then decided to grunt a little louder. As soon as I was finished grunting I watched a figure start moving from the corner of the timber into the grain field I was hunting over. At first I was thinking it was just a decent buck. He came into with some major attitude. He came into 40 yards and hit a small Locust tree and scrapped it like crazy. That’s when my nerves kicked in and I knew I wanted to shoot him. I let him walk about 8 yards and he gave me a nice shot. I gave him my best meh and sure enough he stopped right in the window and I let him have it. No doubt God was guiding that arrow. He ran about 100 yards and I heard him crash into a ditch. This was my first bow buck. I couldn’t be happier. I was shaking and couldn’t believe how fast it happened. I am greatful that I was able to get a good shot on him and got to recover him with my dad, uncle, and brother who have been getting me into hunting. This year has been full of Faith and that has truely made a huge difference not only in hunting, but in all aspects of my life.
