Harvest Story: I had a pretty good idea based on trail camera pictures at 6:40am the last two mornings that this deer was bedded pretty tight to the camera. I’ve looked at the layout of the land pretty hard for the last week since this deer showed up on camera and i’d been talking back in forth with my brother on where exactly we thought he was bedding and we both agreed we though he was bedded on the edge of a tree line facing beans somewhere north of where we had been getting these pictures every morning right before daylight. So last night i went in around 4pm with 8 tree pegs and a hang on and decided to get on the edge of the beans in a tree and just hope that he would get out of bed and head south toward our camera before dark, because i was in between the two. Around 6:15pm the buck he was on trail camera with that morning walked out into the beans to my north about 100 yds and proceeded to work toward the north in the beans. Then about 6:35pm at the same spot that first buck walked out this buck followed his path and started to work toward that buck north of me. Well, I felt like i wasn’t going to have a chance at him since they were headed north and i needed them to head south toward me. So, at 6:45pm with him at about 200 yds heading away I dug down into the bottom of my hunting bag and found my buddies grunt call that he had left in there from last year and proceeded to give him a little grunt sequence and he instantly turned and looked, waiting about 5 minutes and then pinned his ears back and marched straight to me. When he got to 32 yds quartering to me a little i let him have it right in front of his front right shoulder and it dropped him in his tracks so i put another arrow in him when he was on the ground.
