Harvest Story: I had passed this deer the year prior with him being 4 1/2 years old and had tons of pictures of him. I said originally I wasn’t going to shoot him this year when I first got pictures of him but I decided to hunt him last minute and see what he looked like. I knew he was mature this year and he had been coming in pretty consistently. On opening day I looked up and watched him stand up from where he was bedded. He walked into 30 yards and I had a quartering shot. I drew and took my time before letting it fly. I knew the shot was high and I was unable to recover the deer that night. The next day I was unable to relocate blood and basically began an all day grid search. I finally was able to locate some more blood a good distance from where I had found the last blood in standing corn. I could hear a deer walking down a couple rows from where I was coming directly towards me. The same deer I had shot the day prior walked directly infront of me and I drew and placed a perfect shot on him at no more than 3 yards away in standing corn. He ran 60 yards and crashed. By far the craziest hunting experience I’ve ever had in my life while hunting whitetail.
