Harvest Story: This particular deer has been on our farm since we purchased it 4 years ago. This deer was the first deer my husband encountered and has eluded us ever since until this evening. We know he is 8-9 years old!! My hunt took place in a muddy blind over looking a bean food plot. Several smaller range bucks started in on their evening snack with some Doe’s following along. They are noisy eaters! These bucks were showing their dominance and I even saw a couple getting very territorial over one another. Meanwhile, this old man came out for his evening meal and was quiet and working hard to get his grub on. He didn’t make the shot clear and open by any means however, when he was at an angle about to leave the field I was able to take a shot and he dropped in his tracks. He wasn’t going anywhere but he definitely put up a fight, as an old fella I don’t blame him. So glad to see him live a good long life and glad I was given the opportunity to make new history today. The ole wise toothless wonder I will call him! What a fun calm weather hunt.
