Harvest Story: Exactly 1 year from my last buck harvest I was able to catch up with this buck we call “King Crab”. He was a big 6 point last year and not legal for harvest. Days prior to shooting him I had spotted him about 200 yards away chasing doe thru the field. I decided with the same wind and the luck of my “buck-versary”, I’d get back in that same tree. He first showed just before 6pm and worked in behind me in some really thick cover. As I heard him making a rub, I looked forward to find a 4 point about 15 yards away pacing back and forth looking his direction. As he bounded off I heard footsteps behind. I turned and saw King Crab making a direct path to my tree. He offered me a chance at a mere 8 yards for a quartering away shot and I smoked him. We recovered him 75 yards from the initial hit after a perfect double lung shot.
