Harvest Story: You don’t normally get a good cold front in September like we did. It was a great hunt. I got in the stand about 5 and had deer moving already about 20 minutes after I got setup, only being does and fawns. A little later a young buck came by that is usually with this deer, but wasn’t this time. About 45 minutes went by when I heard the sound of corn leaves and I looked to my left. At 30 yards walking towards me was tall, golden tines. I knew it was him and he was doing exactly what I thought he would. I grabbed my bow, locked my release on, and drew back. He got to 9 yards in a hole of broken over corn, stopped and sniffed in the air, and I sent it. I immediately knew I hit a perfect shot as he ran for about 10 seconds and went down. The best part of the whole thing was getting my boys in on the recovery and seeing their faces when we got up on it. It was totally worth the late night, early morning for school the next day.
